This past spring I had an amazing opportunity to work as a Photo Editor Intern under Seattle Bride Magazine’s Art Director Alicia Nammacher and Editor and Chief Sally Farhat Kassab. It was a wonderful experience getting to work with these ladies and their team. I did image collection and selection for some of the major features of the Fall/Winter 2010 issue. This issue was incredibly special to work on for two reasons; one it was Sally’s first issue as Editor and Chief, and two it was the “Best of Bride” issue. Best of Bride is when brides and vendors vote for the best vendors in Seattle in several different categories. It was so great to get to know even more vendors in the Seattle area, and to see the amazing work that is being produced in our industry! I was also lucky enough to get an image published in this issue, and the best part is….it’s a food image! Next to wedding photography food photography is a HUGE passion of mine.  So to be able to combine the two genres in one image and have it published in a major magazine such as Seattle Bride is a dream come true! Hopefully this will be the start of many more publications:)

I want to send out a huge thank you to Alicia, Sally, Megan and everyone at Seattle Bride who were so welcoming and generous. I hope to work with you all much more in the future! Cheers!

When I was home in Colorado earlier this month I had the great pleasure of attending Traci Remley’s baby shower:) Traci is a childhood friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in about eight years.  Other than the fact that she had a different last name and a baby bump she looked and acted exactly the same as the Traci I knew so many years ago. Walking into her parents home in Sedalia I was flooded with memories and tried my darnedest not to start tearing up from happiness and making a scene! Traci immediately came over and gave me a big hug and we caught up on life. She had a good crowd of ladies there including her best friend Heather who is also pregnant! Both are having girls that will be about a month apart, which I think is just so perfect! Traci and her husband Kyle will be naming their baby girl Luci and she is due in October, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that’s she’s born on my birthday 10/10/10!! Here are some of my favorite images from the day….

Ok so all of a sudden out of nowhere there is a donkey ass that just popes into the frame, and Traci and I just start cracking up!

Turns out it’s Jan’s donkey Hoodwinked that is just grazing in the yard as we were taking pictures. Apparently it liked me because it followed me around the entire yard!

Gorgeous…….that’s all I can say.

I had such a wonderful time and I felt incredibly welcomed by Traci and her entire party. It was such a lovely day and nothing beats seeing a wonderful friend so happy.  Thank you Traci for inviting me to share in this day with you and I can’t wait to meet baby Luci:) 10/10/10!!! Also today is Traci and Kyle’s 2 year wedding anniversary so I’d like to wish you both a huge Congratulations!

Every time I go home to CO I make sure to see one of my dearest and closest friends Amanda. Amanda and I are both creatives and I’m always blown away when I walk into her home. There are always new treasures she has either made by hand or found in some obscure antique shop. We have such similar taste that I literally feel like I’m shopping when I go to her house….I’m like, ” oooohhhh where did you get that, oh and that.”  I had to showcase some of her recent work because her pieces are so organically beautiful and charming that it’s hard not just love EVERYTHING she makes. Ok, ok I promised her I wouldn’t gush too much so I’ll let my images speak to how amazing her stuff is.

There were bibs, and a sling, and some other items that Amanda knew would be must haves. She attached a cute little card explaining what each thing was and why Traci would be happy she had one:)

She also makes these super adorable magnets that are totally customizable.

I could shoot every corner of her house, everywhere I looked I was inspired.

After shooting for a bit I was sitting in a chair chatting away and I looked over my shoulder to see this muffin just hanging out in the window! I was like…oh my god he is so stinkn’ cute! His name is Scout and he is a Belgian Shepherd and such a love muffin!

I got to see my baby sister last week and it was a wonderful unexpected treat:) It was a very last minute trip home to Colorado, but every time I see my sis I ALWAYS make time to take some pictures of her…..because she’s stunning! Here are some of my favorites:)

I had an absolutely wonderful time being home in Colorado last week, and I can’t wait to share all the fun pictures I took! My trip was filled with family, friends, baby bumps, babies, puppies, squirrels and even a donkey! Can you imagine:) It was so great to see my parents and my sister again, we’ve been lucky enough to see each other quite a bit this year, and I always take the opportunity to snap a few pictures of my GORGEOUS sister. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing all the fun stories and images from my much needed trip home. Colorado is such a beautiful place, and every time I go I come back totally inspired.

Some days you just have to reflect on your “happy place.”

Amanda and Stephen are two of the nicest people I know, and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph their wedding day. The entire day was fun and full of laughter. Amanda had some really fun details, and the wedding had a very young and hip vibe. It was this great contrast of a classic white church and funky tattoos and colored shoes wedding. Did I mention how much fun I had! Amanda was killin’ it in her dress and I wanted the bridal portraits to go on forever!
