Gettin’ Hitched and Givin’ Hope

Gettin Hitched and Givin Hope

Well this is the year I’m finally getting hitched;) It’s also the year I’m hoping to help give out a little hope. This summer I’ve had the great opportunity of joining an amazing team that puts together an incredible event every year called Get Hitched Give Hope (GHGH). This is an event where brides can bid on auction items such as Photography packages, Wedding Planning services, etc. and the proceeds benefit the charity chosen for that year. Wedding professionals donate their products and services to the event, and it’s a great way for the industry to come together as a whole and give back while brides get gorgeous goods. The ladies and gentlemen that run this organization are unbelievably talented and giving and every year they raise SERIOUS money for the charity of their choice. This year they are teaming up with Dream Foundation.

Dream Foundation, founded in Santa Barbara in 1994 by Thomas Rollerson, is the first national wish granting organization for adults suffering life-threatening illness

The mission of the Dream Foundation is to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their families who are battling life-threatening illness.

Dream Foundation helps adults find peace and closure with the realization of a final wish.

Along with an amazing event they host every year with the live auction and ticket sales proceeds going to the Dream Foundation; they also do year long fundraising. That’s where I come in! There are three ways that you can help me raise some money;)

Toni & Brent: Wedding

July 16th was a day full of rain, sunshine, smiles, cupcakes, and lots and lots of love:) It was my first time visiting the little town of Steilacoom, Washington, and I couldn’t get over how charming everything was! Toni and Brent picked the incredibly adorable Steilacoom town hall for their reception and were married at the park just behind overlooking Puget Sound. The entire day we were dodging the rain, but luckily enough the ceremony was able to happen outside…and only just barley…for as soon as we entered the reception hall the rain down poured for a good couple of hours. This was definitely one of those weddings where I was counting my blessings that we did a first look! The entire day was so much fun and Toni and Brent couldn’t have been more lovely. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day….

Paul and Lynn: Wedding

On June 17th I had the great pleasure of documenting Paul and Lynn Schontzler’s special day. We had beautiful weather for the ceremony and reception held at the Robinswood House in Bellevue, Washington. Lynn is such a classic beauty and both her and Paul were so relaxed and steady the whole day. Their first look was incredibly touching and both were very much at ease in front of my lens. A photographer’s dream! Both Paul and Lynn are blessed with wonderful, loving families all of whom made their wedding day incredibly special. A wedding is about combining two lives and two families, and I can’t think of two luckier people to have such a wonderful combined extended family! I enjoyed meeting all of you very much!

Sporting the Tartan

In Victoria last weekend I found Charlie a puppy scarf that is very similar to the McKenzie tartan….so of course I bought it and am now making him wear it….all the time:) He knows he looks good;)

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Chivalry is not dead!

One of the CUTEST moments from yesterday’s wedding, and trust me there were lots, was when the groom refused to let his bride walk barefoot on the cement and gravel back to the reception hall….I turned around for two seconds and when I turned back around all I saw was tulle and feet up in the air and I thought, “what in the world!” Brent you are so chivalrous and Toni was very thankful for the lift, wedding shoes can be brutal!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
